Google Panda is not a search algorithm
TEXAS SEO company > About Us > Latest News > Google Panda is not a search algorithm
Sullivan compares Panda with the 2007 Google Bomb filter, which was periodically released to fight the so-called Google bombing (the output of a certain site based on an uncensored, ironic, etc query in the top of Google search results with the aid of mass link pumping).
Panda, according to Sullivan, is more of a new ranking factor added to the algorithm rather than an entire new algorithm. In fact, Panda is a filter created by Google especially to eradicate those websites that according to specific reasons have been determined to be of poor quality. If a site has a great number of low-quality pages, Panda flags down the entire website.
Sullivan’s position completely supports Matt Cutts’s statement which was released the night before SMX Advanced conferences took place, affirming the fact that Panda does not run consistently but is manually released every 2-3 weeks. With each launch, the Panda filter improves the system of evaluating the quality of pages in websites.
Cutts also highlighted the fact that the changes brought to the site by the webmaster after getting hit by the Panda filter cannot immediately bring back the site’s former positions. In order to make sure that the changes work, it is necessary to wait for Panda’s next round.
In conclusion, the webmasters must understand that since Panda is not an algorithm but rather Google’s filter, many websites may be suffering not from Panda but from some other changes in the algorithm.
